Salt Lake City Arts Council

Seeking: up to 2 new members

Term: three years

District: Not district-specific, but representation from Districts 6 and 7 needed

The Salt Lake City Arts Council Board advises the Salt Lake City Mayor’s Office, City Council and Salt Lake Arts Council, on the arts and arts related activities throughout the City and region. It also manages a number of arts functions for the City.

Board of Appeals and Examiners

Seeking: up to 5 new members

Term: five years

District: not district-specific

The Salt Lake City Board of Appeals and Examiners reviews and directs matters concerning building construction, housing, abatement codes and technical disciplines, and interprets technical regulations.

Housing Advisory and Appeals Board

Seeking: up to five new members

Term: four years

District: one in District 7 and one At-Large

The Housing Advisory and Appeals Board seeks to improve housing and neighborhood conditions throughout Salt Lake City by providing recommendations to the Mayor and City Council. The board also hears and decides appeals regarding deficiencies from housing inspections. All demolitions and landscape waivers, not in an historic district, must be approved by this board.

Parks, Natural Lands, Trails, and Urban Forestry Advisory Board

Seeking: one new member

Term: three years

District: District 6

The Parks, Natural Lands, Trails, and Urban Forestry Advisory Board advises the Mayor and City Council on issues relating to the City’s parks, natural lands, trails, and/or urban forestry. Primarily, the board is tasked with providing and overseeing strong stewardship, public education, and facilitating public input and involvement with the City’s parks, natural lands, trails and urban forest.

Police Civilian Review Board 

Seeking: two new members

Term: three years

District: District 2 and District 6

The Police Civilian Review Board provides civilian oversight regarding to excessive use of force and other complaints and internal police investigations conducted by the police.

Public Utilities Advisory Committee

Seeking: three new members

Term: four years

District: not district-specific

The Salt Lake City Public Utilities Advisory Committee annually reviews the departments operation and maintenance budget and expenditures, examines the departments water and sewer system capital improvements program, recommends proposed legislation relating to water and sewer, and consults with the Mayor concerning water resources and sewage reclamation requirements.

Redevelopment Advisory Committee

Seeking: three new members

Term: four years

District: not district-specific

The Redevelopment Advisory Committee advises the RDA Board of Directors concerning the Agency’s programs, activities and project areas. The committee consults with experts in finance, real estate and affordable housing development for specific projects.

Transportation Advisory Board

Seeking: five new members

Term: three years

District: members representing Capitol Hill, Central City, East Bench, Northwest Quadrant, and West Salt Lake

The Transportation Advisory Board provides recommendations to the Transportation Division, Mayor, and City Council regarding transportation decisions and issues affecting Salt Lake City.
